Start with your final assessment year and HL or SL level. Course structure and exam expectations differ between the previous and revised syllabuses. Your teacher can confirm the course guide, topic sequence and programming language used by your school.

Which Computer Science syllabus applies?
Check your assessment year before choosing revision material. The previous course has its last assessment in 2026; the revised course is first assessed in May 2027.
- For 2026 assessments, confirm the option selected by your school.
- From 2027, option papers are removed and their main ideas are integrated into the core syllabus.
- From 2027, Paper 2 includes programming questions that can be answered in Java or Python.
- Use your school's course guide and assessment instructions for your cohort.

Independent Computer Science revision habits
Use your teacher's topic list and feedback to choose practice tasks. Short exercises can help you identify whether a difficulty concerns a concept, an algorithm or its implementation.
- Trace variables and data structures by hand
- Break specifications into testable subproblems
- Compare algorithms and justify design choices
- Record test results and use them to investigate errors

Keep assessed programming work your own
Your solution, testing and documentation must reflect your own work. Follow your school's assessment instructions and ask your teacher how outside resources may be used and acknowledged.
