Schools choose different case studies, themes and regional topics. We confirm the student's assessment year, HL or SL level and school topic list before checking tutor fit. Sessions then use marked essays and source responses to identify the most useful next improvement.

Match History support to the assessment year
The revised IB History course is first assessed in May 2028, following first teaching in August 2026. Practice papers and Historical Investigation guidance need to match the student's assessment cohort.
- For 2026 and 2027 assessments, confirm the prescribed subject, world history topics and any HL regional option.
- From 2028, confirm the paired case study, global theme and any HL regional in-depth topics.
- Share the school's topic list and assessment instructions before planning exam preparation.
- Use the Historical Investigation requirements for the student's own cohort.

We first confirm the assessment year, HL or SL level and the exact topics chosen by the school, then check relevant tutor experience and availability before proposing a match.
Does the assessment year affect History tutoring?
Yes. The revised course is first assessed in May 2028 and changes parts of the syllabus and assessment model. Tell us the student's final assessment year so practice and guidance follow the appropriate course.
Can tutoring improve source-analysis responses?
Yes. Tutors teach a repeatable approach to origin, purpose, context, comparison and limitation using new practice sources.
Will a tutor research my Historical Investigation?
No. A tutor can teach research and evaluation methods, but source selection, interpretation and final writing remain the student's responsibility.
