Online IB Math Tutors Across Canada

IB Mathematics rewards more than getting the final answer. Students must choose an efficient method, communicate reasoning clearly and work accurately under exam conditions. We match each student with a tutor who knows their exact AA or AI course and level.

Live one-to-one online sessions

Tutoring begins with the student's current unit, recent marked work and target. The tutor then separates missing foundations from course-specific technique so sessions address the reason marks are being lost rather than simply completing the next worksheet.

01

What our IB Math tutoring covers

Support is tailored to the student's course and school sequence. Tutors can revisit a single weak topic or build a longer plan across the assessment year.

  • Functions, algebra, trigonometry, vectors and calculus for Math AA
  • Statistics, probability, modelling and technology use for Math AI
  • Calculator and non-calculator strategy where relevant
  • Paper practice, error analysis and time management
  • Ethical guidance on planning and communicating a Mathematics IA

02

AA and AI require different matching

A strong general mathematics tutor is not automatically the right IB tutor. AA places greater weight on algebraic fluency and mathematical argument, while AI emphasizes modelling, interpretation and technology. HL also moves faster and demands more depth than SL.

  • Match by AA or AI—not by the label ‘IB Math’ alone
  • Confirm current experience with the student's level and assessment cohort
  • Use marked work to distinguish conceptual gaps from exam-execution errors
  • Set a measurable goal for the first four sessions

03

IA help without crossing academic-integrity boundaries

A tutor can teach mathematical ideas, question assumptions, suggest ways to test a model and explain rubric language. The student must choose the final approach, perform the mathematics and write the submitted exploration in their own words.

  • Topic feasibility and scope discussion
  • Feedback on mathematical clarity and structure
  • Teaching unfamiliar methods before the student applies them
  • No ghostwriting, invented data or completion of assessed work

A clear starting point

A practical first-month Math plan

  1. 1Review the course, level, recent tests and upcoming deadlines.
  2. 2Diagnose two or three high-impact gaps with representative questions.
  3. 3Combine concept teaching with timed, markscheme-aware practice.
  4. 4Review progress after four sessions and adjust frequency if needed.

Questions from families

Frequently asked questions

Can you help with both IB Math AA and AI?

Yes. Matching is course-specific, so tell us whether the student takes Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation, plus HL or SL.

Can tutoring focus only on exam preparation?

Yes. Short-term work can focus on question selection, timing and recurring errors, although unresolved foundational gaps may require concept review first.

Will a tutor complete or edit my Mathematics IA?

No. Tutors can teach concepts and provide limited educational feedback, but the investigation, calculations and submitted writing must remain the student's own work.
